Real Results from Real Participants!

To evaluate the effectiveness of our falls prevention program, Exercise Physiology students from the University of Sydney conducted formal assessments of strength, balance and functional capacity.

Assessments were completed across two separate regions at different time points. The first cohort was assessed in the Sutherland Shire, Bayside and Georges River areas, where the program was previously delivered under the name Strengthening Over 60s (now StediStrong). The second cohort was assessed in the Eastern Suburbs under the program StediStrong

It is important to note that two different University student cohorts completed these assessments. As a result, the presentation and layout of the data may differ slightly between the two reports. However, all assessments were conducted using the same testing protocols to ensure consistency and reliability of the results.

Across both groups, the results demonstrate measurable improvements in key markers of healthy ageing and falls prevention. Importantly, outcomes indicate that the longer participants attend the program, the greater the improvements observed.

It is also important to acknowledge that the long-term outcomes achieved reflect the strong foundations established by the hospitals that previously delivered these programs. We are proud to have continued, developed and maintained this important work within the community.

We invite you to explore the results below and see the impact StediStrong is delivering in our communities.
